Everett Heath Munroe was born in Brigden, Ontario on 12 February 1895 to Ada Munroe. While working as a clerk in Toronto, Everett was conscripted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 6 May 1918. He began his service with the 2nd Canadian Engineer Reserve Battalion as a Sapper.
On 15 August 1918, Sapper Munroe arrived in England aboard the HMS Huntsend. Perhaps ironically, the HMS Huntsend started its life as a German troop ship called Lützow, but was captured by the British in 1914 and renamed to Huntsend.
In October, Sapper Munroe was promoted to Acting Corporal, but was later reverted to Sapper when he deployed to the field in December. The Armistice had been declared just one month before he arrived in the field. In March of 1919, while serving with the 3rd Infantry W Company, Everett Munroe was promoted once again to Acting Corporal.
In April 1919, Acting Corporal Munroe fell ill with influenza, and was treated at 16 Canadian General Hospital. Over the next year his condition would improve. Despite his improvement he was declared medically unfit at Toronto on 13 March 1920, and released from the military. Upon release, he planned to live in Toronto.
Everett Heath Munroe passed away in 1983. He is buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto, Ontario.
