Earl Stephens - 3038563

              Earl Stephens was born in Brigden, Ontario on 6 March 1895 to Elizabeth Stephens.  A driver by trade, he was conscripted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Toronto, Ontario on 16 May 1918.  While his service began with the 1st Depot Battalion, Central Ontario Regiment, he would go on to serve with the Corps of Canadian Engineers as a Sapper.

 

             Sapper Stephens was admitted to the hospital in “Saint John, PQ” (Ref A) (Likely Saint Jean, Quebec) with Influenza on 18 November 1918, seven days after the Armistice had been signed.  He was cleared for service a month later.


              He was discharged under demobilization on 20 December 1918, and returned to his home in Brigden, Ontario.
