Harvey Gordon Wray was born on 15 December 1895 in Moore Township, Ontario to Elmiral Wray. While working as a farmer, he was conscripted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 18 June 1918 at London, Ontario. He began as a Private with the 1st Depot Battalion, Western Ontario Regiment.
At some point following his enrolment, he was placed on a leave of absence. This ultimately ended on 25 January 1919, when Private Wray was discharged from the Canadian Expeditionary Force following the Armistice.
Harvey Gordon Wray was married to Mary Ethel Conkey Wray. As he attested as single on enrolment, and with no record of requesting permission to marry (which was the standard at the time), it is likely they were married sometime after the war. Harvey Wray passed away on 9 March 1948, and is buried at Hillsdale Cemetery in Petrolia, Ontario.
