              Harold John Irvine was born on 9 March 1894 in Sarnia, Ontario, to Robert and Mary Irvine.  With prior service in the Canadian Officer Training Corps, he enlisted as a Private with the 5th Field Ambulance on 4 March 1915.


              Private Irvine deployed to France on 16 September 1915.  In January 1916, he returned to Canada with the intent to complete his medical studies.


              Upon completion of his medical training, Harold Irvine was promoted to Lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps in May 1917.  Some time before his discharge, he was posted to Saint Lucia in the Caribbean and promoted to Captain. (For more information on Canada’s presence in Saint Lucia, see ref C).  Captain Irvine was discharged from the Canadian Expeditionary Force for demobilization on 21 May 1920.


              Harold John Irvine passed away on 16 February 1956.  He is buried alongside his spouse, Shirley McCarty Irvine, in Bear Creek Cemetery in Brigden, Ontario.
