Frederick John Robinson was born in England on 23 October 1898.  While living in Sarnia, he left his work as a tin smith and enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 12 October 1916 in London, Ontario.  He began as a Private with the Divisional Cyclist Depot.

Private Robinson deployed to England and arrived on 14 May 1917 in Liverpool.  He was taken on strength with the Canadian Reserve Cyclist Company in Chiseldon.  Some time after, he was posted to the 4^th Canadian Reserve Battalion in Bramshott.  In March 1918 Private Robinson deployed to France and was posted to the Canadian Corps Reinforcement Camp (CCRC).

In June 1918, Private Robinson was docked one days’ pay after he lost his small box respirator (a kind of gas mask used during the First World War).  In August, he was posted to the 1^st Battalion, joining them on the 8^th.

On 27 September 1918, Private Frederick John Robinson was killed in action.  He was buried in the Ontario Cemetery in Sains-Les-Marquion, France.  His headstone reads (Ref C):
