Allan Scott McDonald was born on 26 October 1896 in Calumet, Michigan to Angus and Alexina McDonald. Leaving his family farm in Southampton, Ontario, he was conscripted into the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 27 May 1918. He began as a Private with the 1st Depot Battalion, Western Ontario Regiment.
Private McDonald spent one week in hospital with suspected measles through June and into July. With the end of the War in November 1918, he was discharged from the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 25 January 1919.
Allan Scott McDonald passed away on 19 October 1983 in Southampton, Ontario. He is buried alongside his wife, Lillian May Ziegler McDonald, in Sanctuary Park Cemetery in Port Elgin, Ontario.
